I guess my Saturday blog entries are getting pretty predictable.
I pop in and talk about how excited I am about my sermon on Sunday.

I’m really sorry about that.

Since we’ve got that out of the way, I wanted to tell you how excited I am about my sermon tomorrow.

I only have 3 concerns:

1. I hope I don’t get too embarrassed and chicken out of saying some of this stuff I’m planning to say. You ever tried to have a sex talk in front of over 1000 of your closest friends? It’s harder than it looks.

2. I hope the number of people who walk out during the sermon stays at a bare minimum. Yes, it’s going to be that raw. And I hope the people who walk out because the teaching is too confrontational are very happy at their next church. Because we’re not backing down to accommodate religious fear.

3. I hope I finish on time. (This is more like a Hail Mary miracle request than a concern).

I’ve got that wonderful queasy feeling in my stomach that all pastors get around dinner time on Saturday night when they anticipate the great tension in the room that is just around the corner.

I’m starting to love that feeling. Lets me know I’ve got something worth saying.
