Let me fill you in on some meaningful stuff that’s happening at our little church, and some random stuff that’s happening in my life.
• Record attendance for the 2nd week in a row Sunday (2,133 people).
In the middle of the summer. Less than 18 months in. Whoa. This Fall is going to be berserk… don’t you think?
• We are gearing up for Dominate ‘07. I told our volunteers all about it Sunday night at our volunteer only CD release party and they screamed until they were hoarse. More details to follow for the entire congregation (and the blogosphere at large) beginning in late August.
• Elevators, have you registered for Summer Blast yet? If not, go do it now. Unless you don’t love your kids at all. I shouldn’t have said that. I’m a terrible person.
• Holly and I finally decided to watch the 1st season of 24 on DVD this summer. We had never seen a single episode until 3 weeks ago, and we’re currently at about 10am on the first day. I know… I’m so behind. Holly keeps falling asleep about 15 minutes into each episode, so she’s even further behind, and I have to keep explaining what happened the next morning. I’m not very good at breaking it down, so I think she’s very confused. By the way, don’t you dare tell me anything about the current progress of the show. I don’t want to know who dies and who lives, who’s good and who’s bad. I’ll just keep pretending it’s 2001 and the series just got started, thank you very much. And while all of you cool people are waiting in agony for the next episode when the new season begins, I’ll be enjoying season 2 at my own pace, with no commercial breaks. Take that.
• Elijah’s birthday is Wednesday. He’ll be 2. The party is Saturday. Holly has been running all over North America looking for shark plates, which Elijah insists on. They can’t just be fish plates, mind you. They must be shark plates.
He’s so demanding. Where does he get it from?
Happy birthday Elijah B! Reading this right now is probably pretty problematic for you, but you’ll appreciate it one day when you’re going back through Daddy’s blog, looking for pearls of wisdom and profound insight to guide you in life. I love you boo!
