Lessons from a Roadie

Lesson #2 -Excellence in Ministry

You see, at Elevation we work hard to create an excellent worship experience because our God deserves it, and we don’t want any distraction to keep someone who is “far from God” from engaging with the preaching of the Gospel.

But unfortunately, I learned about the importance of this principle by seeing it done the wrong way.

I can’t tell you how many times I would arrive at an event with Pastor Furtick and the coordinator would tell us…

“Here is how the service will go tonight…
First we’ll have 11 year old Timmy’s worship band play for 45 minutes…
they will be followed by my cousin Bob and his band of traveling mimes for about an hour…
then I will do a 25 minute clinic on jumping rope…
and finally with the time that is left over…
you can do your thing.”

It’s like the planners put an emphasis on everything to do with the experience EXCEPT the reason for having an event in the first place which is the preaching of the word of God.

Listen… just make the experience great, with every aspect organized around the preaching of the gospel, and watch God do things that only He can do.
