This Sunday, February 10th, we celebrate the 2 year anniversary of Elevation Church.
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since we publicly launched this thing. I guess normally that would mean: It seems like only yesterday…
That’s not what I mean. I mean that I can believe it’s only been 2 years since we started Elevation. God has done so much in these last 24 months… well, I’ve already written about that phenomenon here.
This Sunday, we’re going to raise our Ebenezer, pile up our stones, and commemorate (to the best of our ability) what God has done for us.
The festivities will include a rock your face off Sunday morning worship experience (I heard there will even be bouncers), baptisms in the afternoon (you can still sign up! email Larry), and a special Live Recording Concert for our upcoming Worship Project at night (this event is limited to volunteers and giving leaders… as a way to honor them and ensure that no one is turned away at the door!)
I insist that we make a big deal of anniversaries and milestones at Elevation. That’s why we’re reimbursing small groups to throw their own Happy Birthday Elevation parties in the week following our anniversary. That’s why we’re giving a special limited edition DVD to all volunteer staff… with some behind the scenes Uncut Unrated excerpts. And much, much more.
Celebrating the goodness of God with a heart of gratitude is as essential to the health of a church as praying or reading the Bible. And as long as I lead Elevation, I hope I can do a decent job of setting an atmosphere of thanksgiving as we break through barriers (from 121 total attendance 2 years ago to over 4000 this past Sunday-are you freaking kidding me?)
and witness life change (over 1300 salvations over the course of the year!) at a velocity and magnitude that could only be God.
If you are an Elevator, please take a moment (as a special 2 year birthday gift to me) to invite someone to celebrate with you this Sunday morning at one of our campuses. Tell ‘em there will be a backstage pass waiting for them upon arrival. And no, I won’t explain that to you before Sunday. Just get ready to party.
