How can I even describe the first Sunday of 2008 at Elevation?
-Over 3500 in attendance today. We had to turn away over 100 people at the 10:00 service… and I’m not very proud of that. What I am proud of is the extraordinary job our Elevators did inviting people to church today to kick off the new year.
We’ll be working overtime to create more empty seats. And we’ll figure something out.
-Over 130 salvation decisions today. Glory to God.
-Cliff Barrows (who traveled the world directing music for Billy Graham) came to Elevation today, and spent some time encouraging and praying for me afterward. It was very special. Before he left he looked in my eyes and told me: “The best is yet to be.”
I believe him.
He also said: “I took my earplugs out just in time to hear you preach.”
Funny.
-I’ve got a good looking staff. The guys (band and ushers too) looked fantastic in their suits (in honor of the first ever Mafia series at Elevation, of course).
But I was the only one brave enough to pull off a purple shirt with a purple tie.
Bada bing.
-We are humbled by God’s favor and hungry for more.
2008 is going to be insane.
-In honor of such a big day, I’m going to eat carbs all day tomorrow. Lots of carbs. I think I’ll take the entire staff out to lunch for a carb-o-licious celebration lunch.
-How will I ever fall asleep tonight?
