One of my friends has this habit that drives me crazy. He only puts $5.00 of gas in his car at a time. This means he’s perpetually in danger of running out of gas. (And he has a few times.) It’s not because he can’t afford the gas. I don’t know why it is, actually. I think it’s just a habit.

I do the same thing spiritually. I run on fumes, and I don’t have to. There’s no shortage of God’s Word or presence, but I opt to wait until the red light begins to flash (exhaustion, failure, crisis) before I fill up. I get worse mileage when I do this, and am in danger of running out of fuel in the worst possible places. Like in the middle of a severe temptation or trial.

There’s too much 93 octane available for me to skip my refueling just because it’s inconvenient.
Here’s to riding on a full tank.
Fill er up.
(I had to end it that way. I just had to.)
