If you want God to use your life in an authentic and lasting way, you must learn to deflect all the glory back to Him.
When a success, achievement, or accolade is aimed at you, cultivate the habit of letting it bounce of your chest, and then push it back up toward God, who is the giver of every good gift.

This is not the same as false humility, or “aw shucks-ing” your way through life.
You’ve seen this before:
“That was a good solo you sang, sister… “
“Oh, it wasn’t me, it was the Lord… “
(To which I always want to reply: “It wasn’t that good… “)

I’m not talking about legalistically adding the addendum:
“Praise the Lord”
after every compliment you receive, either.

The idea here is simply to stay in a default frame of mind that comprehends:
Every good thing that I have and every significant achievement that I enjoy is because of Jesus and His grace.

Let that attitude pervade your speech and thoughts every moment.
And the favor and mercy of God will follow you all the days of your life.
