I check my checking account balance often.
Same with my retirement accounts, kids’ college funds, short-term savings accounts, etc.
I expect all of these accounts to grow. And that only happens if I make more deposits than withdrawals.

A few years ago, I started tracking a different kind of account.
Am I becoming wealthier in the Word of God day by day, month by month, year by year?
Am I hiding substantial portions of God’s Word in my heart systematically?
Am I understanding the ways of God with greater illumination than I was 2 years ago?
Are my journals filled with rich ideas from the heart of God and heartfelt prayers from my own heart to His?
Life regularly requires various withdrawals: temptation, stress, output, disappointment.
Am I making enough deposits to cover the spread and even get ahead?

If it’s natural for me to want to increase in material and temporary things… how much more should I desire prosperity in the things that are eternal?
