I try to keep everything really professional-like here on stevenfurtick.com these days. It wasn’t always that way. When we started the blog 11 months ago (1 year anniversary coming up in late September… party details TBA) I wrote about a lot more random, funny stuff. But gradually, as more people started reading this blog, and eventually the monthly unique readership of this blog grew to 5 times the size of our church, I decided I needed to straighten up and run this blog like a grown up.

Not today. I want to hijack my blog on this lovely Friday and share 5 random things that no one else will think is funny. But I will. And it’s my blog.

1. The other day my best buddy Eric asked me this hypothetical question:
“What if I went in and told the whole Elevation staff: ‘Hey, I’m taking over the church, and from now on, you all need to call me Pastor Eric. If that’s too formal for you, you can call me Pastor E. If that’s still too formal, you can call me P.E. As in, Physical Education. A.K.A. Phys Ed. Come to think of it, just call me Ed.’”
I don’t care who you are, that’s funny.

2. My 2 year old now tells my wife the following daily:
“Mommy, you booo-tee-ful (beautiful)… “
Followed by:
“Mommy, you da best. You da best mommy, you da best wife, and you da best puh-son (person).”
Dang, my son can spit game.

3. A girl told me at Newcomers Lunch recently that the reason she started coming to Elevation was that I looked like Chris Daughtry.
Whatever it takes.

4. The shirt I wore this past Sunday said HONOR. Holly and I thought it said LONDON.
Disturbing fact: London and Honor do not have the same number of letters. We were embarrassed.

5. Holly and I just finished the second season of 24, and sometimes I make her call me President Palmer. She gets annoyed by this, but bless her heart, she complies.
