I need a little help.

I’m going to the beach a couple times this summer, and I need some fiction books to take along.
But here’s the thing.
I don’t know anything about fiction books. Except Elijah’s books about trains, snakes, etc.

For years I wouldn’t read many fiction books… they were a waste of time.
I could be reading something helpful: a leadership book, a theology book, or the Bible. You know, cause my time was so important.

But I’ve changed my mind.
The last few weeks I’ve been reading John Grisham novels and I think it’s good for me. It’s mindless and it lets me disconnect my freakishly intense brain for a few minutes here and there.

Here’s where you come in:

The only fiction books I’ve ever liked are Grisham.
I have tried to read some other authors, and I can’t make it past page 50.
I know Grisham is shallow, but I spend the whole week trying to be deep and profound, I need shallow once and a while.

What other fiction books do you think I’d like?

A few parameters.

I hate stuff like Lord of the Rings. Anything fantasy is out.
I really like stuff about lawyers. Stories about the seduction of money and power. A page turner. Ultra simple. No complicated plots that I have to read slowly. I want to read one a day on vacation. I don’t really like stuff with intense medical or military terminology.
And it needs to be very modern. No stuff set before 1950.

Basically, I want more stuff that’s just like Grisham, but I’ve read everything he’s written.

I don’t ask much from you, blog reader.
