Thoughts from Pastor Steven

Our Ministries Pastor, John Bishop, told me that he was going to take an index card and write: How IS it my fault? on the card and stick it to his computer monitor.
Not sure if he ever did that, but what a great idea!

Our leadership team is re-reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and I’m convinced we all need to be a little more proactive, starting with me.
It’s so easy to get into the trap of excusing mediocrity and failure with the phrase:
They just won’t…”
or
“I can’t get them to…”
But as a leader, (and especially as the senior leader) everything is my fault in some way.
Perhaps at the source: did I set up a system that’s producing this behavior?
Did I create a culture, either intentionally or inadvertently, that’s driving this dysfunction?

It’s liberating to put the blame back on you, because you can always do something about you.  You are your only limitation.
What’s frustrating you today…about your spouse?  Your kids?  Your teammates? Your boss?
And how is it your fault?
