Thoughts from Pastor Steven

That was my self proclaimed best line of the day during our baptism service yesterday. The water was unbearably cold. I think it’s a good thing. Coming within an inch of losing your life to hypothermia definitely makes your baptism more memorable. Good stuff.

Seriously, if you thought we made a big deal out of baptizing 55 people yesterday, it’s because it is a big deal. It’s a big deal to God, and should be a big deal to us.

It’s a big deal to me because we didn’t even have 50 people on our core team a year ago. To look out and see that auditorium packed with chairs in the aisle during the service messed me up yesterday. Sitting on the front row with my wife watching person… after person… after person… after person… after person… after person baptized into Jesus was unspeakably rewarding. I love Jesus and I love His Church.

Oh yeah, for everyone who’s wondering-I did reward the staff, but it was at Chili’s, not Ruth’s Chris. (Even though by some counts we did break 1,000 yesterday… I’m stickin’ with the conservative count. It’s a lot cheaper!) Maybe Ruth’s Chris after Christmas Eve. Whatcha think staff?

If you attend Elevation, how ‘bout it? Can you feel the momentum? We’re caught in the middle of something phenomenal. It’s all about Jesus. And the MIRACLE has just begun!

Oh, and a big thanks to Perry for the shout out. Love you too man. I believe in you so much and don’t know where we’d be without NewSpring.

Someone emailed us a heads up that when Perry points people to your blog new visitors show up in droves. So welcome to all of you!

Especially church planters. We’re kicking something off in February that you may be very interested in. Holla back and I’ll let you in on it.

Praise God for what He’s doing in Charlotte. I was talking to this guy this morning, and we may have something beyond huge in the works. Stay tuned!

Tomorrow, I’ll let you know about some exciting stuff we’re cooking up for the next 5 years… pretty ambitious huh?
