Thoughts from Pastor Steven

This Sunday I’m going to take a risk. I’m trying to be a real pastor who identifies with people at a tangible level.

So, I’m bringing my wife up on the stage. And we’re going to talk about what it means for us to live with financial integrity as a couple. We went over the message today, and it’s pretty funny. We’re going to pick on each other a little bit. We’re going to talk in depth about our struggles with consumerism, and we’re going to brag on the great things God has done for us financially.

I rant and rave a lot on Sundays, and I make no apologies for that. It’s how God has called me to preach.

But this will be an opportunity for me to share from the heart in a more relaxed way. I hope people will enjoy it. Of course, when you share your personal weaknesses and strengths from a stage, there’s always room for misinterpretation and criticism.

But that’s ok. I’m trying to help sincere people, not appease or dodge critics.

Elevators, get ready for some dead level practical help this week.

I realized again today how blessed I am to have a wife who follows me as her spiritual leader, and who makes me a better man. She’s pretty fantastic, and I can’t wait to take her out to eat tonight and rent a DVD afterward.

Oh, by the way, I lost $10 at the Clemson game. It was such a blow out that we had to bet (sorry, I’m a bad pastor, forgive me Lord) on the point margin to make it interesting. Oh well, it went to a good place. Jonathan Davis’ future wife fund :).

Happy Friday everyone!
