Yesterday in the office we were praying together and it hit me:
We’re not the only ones who are excited.
In fact, as I was praying, I interrupted myself (or maybe God interrupted me).
I was asking God to bring people who did not know Jesus to Elevation Sunday.
And then I changed my mind.
Who cares if they come to Elevation?
So I changed my prayer:
“Lord, just bring them to some church somewhere so they can hear the Gospel and meet Christ.”
And we all said amen.
See, on this Christmas Eve Eve, I’m not just excited about what will happen at Providence High School tomorrow at 10:30 and 7:00.
I’m excited about what God will do through Rob.
And Jonathan
And Murph
And Perry
And Cal
And Ron
And Jay
And Daniel in Cuba.
And my friends (who I can’t name) in China.
You get the point.
It’s so much bigger than us!
All over Charlotte and all over the world tomorrow, God will do the impossible.
Jesus will speak through mighty men and women of God to draw hurting people to Himself.
What a wonderful Savior!
When I was little, just like every other kid, I guess, I had to be repeatedly threatened by my parents (”Santa won’t come if you’re awake”) to fall asleep on Christmas Eve. My brother and I would lay there and guess about what presents we might be opening in a few hours.
Today is the Eve before Christmas Eve. And I’ll lay in my bed for hours tonight wide awake before I finally drift off.
But not because I’m thinking about material stuff.
Because I’m consumed with eternal souls.
And the power of Jesus to change them.
Not just under our roof…
But in every corner of the planet.
Everywhere the name of Jesus is lifted high!
Let the celebration begin!
